Acoustic Guitars |
|
An acoustic guitar is a stringed instrument with 6-12 strings and a sound hole. It does not require amplification due to the sound hole. The sound hole accurately projects the sound and vibrations that ring into the guitar from the strings. This creates a loud, sharp, and crisp noise. The different types of woods invovled in the making of the guitar also effect the sound. The woods usually determine the range on the EQ that the guitar has. Most acoustic guitars are made of spruce or some other type of pine due to its very resonant properties. Resonance is very important in acoustic guitars. When plucked, the strings vibrate and displace a small amount of air. These vibrations travel into the sound hole and into the sound box. The vibrations bounce many times and leave the sound hole again but this time they are louder and amplified. This all happens very fast. Back to TYPES page
